January: Rest to Return💚
I’ve shifted our theme a little and this first 2026 monthly yoga nidra will be all about resting to RETURN.
Returning to your heart amidst the chaos and violence that is happening in our world. If you feel called to nurture yourself, to lay down softly and rise with more presence and awareness to what matters most to your heart and soul, this time is for you.
I'm holding this container and want you to feel safe. To choose however you wish to show up - screens on or off, share or not share, eyes open wide, or closed softly.
This entire Zoom call from beginning to end is NOT being recorded.
The room will open at 7:20pm to make sure everyone feels ready and go over a few housekeeping zoom tips. We begin at 7:30pm - below are some suggestions and reminders so you feel prepared to rest.
Have all that you need ready with a soft place to rest.
The most important thing to remember in yoga nidra is you do not want to become cold or start to feel cold during this time. When you lay down in this way, your body temperature will drop.
Have enough blankets, socks, and pillows to support you. Whether you are on the floor, your bed, or sitting in a comfortable chair, you want to be able to relax, feel warm, and not be distracted by your surroundings (sound and temperature).
Optional to have a journal nearby to capture anything your heart hears and you want to remember.
Optional to have an eye pillow and a touchstone (something significant that you can hold in your hand that anchors you).
Optional to use headphones of your choice.
I believe even in this new year we are still holding on tightly to all that we brought with us from 2025. I’m feeling called to return to my word I chose this year, JOY, as an anchor and a way to RETURN back to hope, again and again.
January invites deep rest while the days are quiet, and the body is naturally drawn inward. This month, we rest beneath the pressure to “start strong” and instead reconnect with joy as something simple and steady—available when we slow down enough to feel it. Let rest be enough, no fixing, improving, or planning required.
January’s yoga nidra experience includes:
We will begin with me lighting a candle to open our time together. You may also light a candle at this time, if you wish.
You will have an opportunity to share, in one word or a few, words that capture how you are feeling during this time ~ optional. Type in the chat or unmute to share.
We will pause and breathe mindfully and collectively, thus creating a circle of healing and positive energy (yes, even in zoom).
I will pull an oracle card and read it to the group.
We settle into a themed yoga nidra for RETURN.
Soft music and a short poem to close.
I will leave the room open until 8:45pm for those who feel they would like to stay on the call and in the moment. Or, feel free to say goodnight and end the meeting for yourself.
This is an online gathering and pre-registration is required by clicking the button below. I will share the link to join in your inbox on Tuesday morning.
YOGA NIDRA what it is and why it is an essential piece to your wellbeing.
Join Cathy each month to end the day with a nourishing theme-based yoga Nidra (yogic nap).
Yoga Nidra is a gentle, guided practice where you remain aware and conscious. Practice is often done lying down on the floor or in your bed. A chair is a nice option. Often described as yogic sleep, Cathy will invite you to drift through the layers of your being—the koshas—moving from the physical body into the breath and energy, the landscape of thoughts and emotions, and toward deeper inner wisdom and quiet joy.
Within this liminal space between waking and sleep, a sankalpa, or heartfelt intention, is softly planted — your deepest desires: an offering to what you are ready to nurture or remember.
As science has proven, yoga Nidra softens the body and settles the mind, the nervous system is given permission to exhale. With time, this practice may support more restful sleep, chronic pain or illness, a gentler relationship with stress, and a quiet sense of restoration that naturally weaves its way into daily life.
No prior experience is needed, only a willingness to rest and receive.
Pre-registration is required. A link to Her Evening of Rest will be shared on the day of our time together.
Things you might enjoy to know before we rest…
Prepare your rest nest, a cozy space, your bed, warm blankets and cozy socks. The name is Yoga Nidra, but the only pose you need to know is savasana - corpse pose. Where you lay down to rest. An eye pillow, essential oil, and a touch stone to hold in your hand are optional.
Click below to fill out a brief contact form and let me know you would like to join January’s Her Evening of Rest. You will receive a reply from me with the payment link.
JANUARY IS FREE: Cost is between $10-$15 - please pay what feels rested for your budget. XO
